Chinga La Migra

$30.00

This print is a talisman and a heartfelt battle cry. We are seeing many injustices today toward our immigrant neighbors, and many people in power are quick to dehumanize people who are different from us. As long as these injustices continue, we say, “Chinga la migra.” Fuck ICE.

I chose three plants that I commonly see when visiting Mexico to make this print: a rose, marigold flowers, and the incredible nopal cactus.

Roses are connected to Our Lady of Guadeloupe, and represent divine love and protection. Marigolds are the flowers that guide ancestor spirits home during Day of the Dead, and illustrate a deep connection to family. The nopal is the plant of life: the entire plant is edible, and is used in cooking and medicine. It also serves as a perch for the eagle on the Mexican flag.
