Tamarack
Larix laricina is a unique and beautiful - despite being a conifer, it’s deciduous! It’s soft-to-the-touch needles turn bright yellow in the autumn before falling - seemingly all at once - to the ground. Like most conifers, tamarack’s needles are edible and high in vitamin C.

Tamarack is a food source for snowshoe hares, porcupines, and grouse, but it isn’t browsed by many species.
It does provide breeding and nesting habitats for birds, however, and shade cover for bear and moose.
-
Tamarack’s clear, sweet, pine-like aroma creates a supportive and healing atmosphere perfect for addressing one’s mental, physical and emotional needs.
